About
Public relations/strategic communications is my second career. I create PR campaigns and social media strategies that win national awards and recognition. Better yet, the teams I put together create great results for my clients’ business goals and objectives.
I’m completely enamored of social media and the way we create conversations on the web. One of my strengths is using social media as a complement to traditional public relations strategies.
My first career? Broadcast journalist. My only regret is that I left with nineteen years’ experience and not a nice round twenty ( it makes writing a bio so much easier). I have been a reporter, anchor, producer, and frequently all three at the same time. I’ve even been a weatherperson, so I know that high pressure systems rotate clockwise and lows rotate counter-clockwise.
Regardless of the career, writing honestly about complex issues with a specific audience in mind is something I’ve been doing for decades. I’ve covered some big stories as a journalist, and I’ve helped some big companies with their strategic communications. Deadlines are still important to me along with excellent writing and telling a great story.
This blog was formed after I attended BlogNashville in 2005 and realized I didn’t need a TV station, a radio station or a newspaper to publish my stories anymore. I came back telling everyone that blogging lets us all be Benjamin Franklin — someone with a point of view and our own printing press — and that bloggers would change the way news is reported and how an audience is influenced. I love being right.
I’m also a Mom with two daughters and a great husband who still works in TV news. I’m a voracious reader and wish I had more time for scrapbooking.
